This four-year programme blends language learning and initial teacher education to prepare students to work as a language teacher in post-primary schools in the Irish education system. Students can choose to study either two languages from the following list (French, Spanish, German, Italian or Portuguese) or one from this list along with an Ghaeilge. Alternatively, students can choose to major in an Ghaeilge alone.

At least three subjects at A Level Grade C or better and Grade C, or better, in the remaining subjects at GCSE. A total of six distinct subjects required.
The following awarding bodies for UK secondary qualifications delivered internationally are acceptable:- Grade C at GCSE Level.
At UCD, all teaching is delivered through English, so applicants must demonstrate a high level of English language proficiency to be admitted. The minimum requirements are set by the University Programmes Board and apply to all applicants at every level of study.
