You are welcome to apply for the MA in New Ireland, a degree which is achieved on the basis of formal teaching as well as the completion of a thesis. During this course, Irish is studied intensively, including language, culture and literature. Students can do a comprehensive, balanced study of these areas, or if they prefer, they can focus specifically on language and culture or literature. Modules are offered on a wide range of subjects in the language, and both contemporary and historical literature are taken care of. The staff have a diverse range of expertise in the courses taught on the teaching program itself.
The MA sa Nua-Ghaeilge is for graduates of Modern Irish and graduates of cognate disciplines. It aims to promote and preserve the Irish language, literature and culture, and emphasise their importance for Irish society and European identity. It prepares students for a broad range of career paths, including education in Ireland and abroad, public service, editing and publishing, and further academic research. Students develop communicative, analytical and research skills throughout the programme. They will develop advanced linguistic skills in Irish and deepen their knowledge of Irish-language literature, culture and history.
