The Graduate Diploma in Arts (Social Anthropology) will give you the equivalent of an undergraduate major in social anthropology without completing a second bachelor’s degree.

A Massey Graduate Diploma in Arts (Social Anthropology) is a bridging tool for graduates in other subjects to get the equivalent of a major in social anthropology.

  • 90 credits in Social Anthropology including at least 60 credits at 300-level
  • 15 credits from the Schedule at 200 (or 300) level
  • 15 credits (at least) from the Schedule at 300 level

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Equivalent entry qualification: Applicants must have successful completion of a successful completion of a three year diploma or undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution. English Language Requirements: IELTS - 6.0 (no band less than 5.5); TOEFL iBT- 80 overall (min 19 in Writing); PTE Academic - 50 Overall (min 42 in communicative skills); Cambridge English - 169.

For international students

Admission to a Graduate Diploma requires successful completion of a three year diploma or undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution.

Students from a country where English is not the first language, must obtain a minimum English Language competency level.

  • IELTS score of 6.0 (no band less than 5.5)
  • TOEFL iBT score of 80 overall (min 19 in Writing)
  • PTE Academic score of 50 Overall (min 42 in communicative skills)
  • Cambridge English score of 169 overall and all bands 162 or better
