What will I learn?

With Massey’s Master of Emergency Management, you’ll learn to become a leader in managing emergencies effectively at operational and strategic levels. Emergency management focuses on organising communities to respond to disasters. It also examines how to survive them, rebuild social structures and infrastructure, and sustain and preserve life. With the Master of Emergency Management you’ll gain in-depth knowledge about a range of emergency management issues, as well as practices and policies.The Master of Emergency Management offers coursework and research pathway options.This master’s programme will give you skills in:critical application of theory and researchanalysis, synthesis and critical evaluations of disaster riskcrisis leadership and communicationsdecision makingdisaster management policy and procedure.

Entry requirements

For international students

All students must meet university entrance requirements to be admitted to the University.Specific requirementsTo enter the Master of Emergency Management you will havebeen awarded or qualified for an undergraduate degree with a minimum B grade average across the 200300 level major courses andat least two years relevant industry or professional experience orbeen awarded or qualified for a Postgraduate Diploma in Emergency Management or equivalent with at least a B grade average.If you have been awarded or qualified for a Postgraduate Diploma in Emergency Management as outlined above you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations.You will need to provide verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.International English Language Requirements IELTS - 6.5 overall and minimum 6.0 in each bandTOEFL iBT Overall score 90 minimum 20 in WritingCambridge English - C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with a score of 176. No less than 169 in each skill.NCEL - Level 5PTE - 58 overall and minimum 50 in each communicative skillsLanguageCert - C1 Expert IESOL (LRWS) with HIGH PASS and no less than Pass in each skill or C2 Mastery IESOL (LRWS) with PASS and no less than Pass in each skill
