What will I learn?

The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree is a two-year full-time equivalent qualification that can be completed either as postgraduate public health papers to the value of 120 points plus a 120 point thesis or postgraduate public health papers to the value of 180 points plus a 60 point dissertation. The MPH is an internationally recognised qualification in its field. It is taught in small classes, with an emphasis on multi-disciplinary approaches. Students are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds in the health, social and allied sciences, and many enrol on a part-time basis. Graduates from the programme are equipped to work in a range of non-clinical fields in the health sector, principally in planning and management and in the delivery of public health programmes. Entry requirements

For international students

Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences).Every applicant must either:have been awarded, with an average grade of at least B either;a bachelor's degree, ora professional qualification equivalent to a bachelor's degree and requiring at least three years' full-time tertiary study, orhave completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health with an average of at least B and a grade of at least a B+ in an approved research methods paper, orhave alternative qualifications or experience which, in the opinion of the Course Director or Public Health Academic Committee, demonstrate the applicant's ability to undertake the programme successfully.The suitability of applicants for admission under 1(b)(iii) will be based on published criteria including but not limited to:relevant professional or work experienceprior academic performance.
