What will I learn?

Prepare to take on management responsibilities in the fast-paced world of hospitality. This programme is designed to build on the skills and knowledge learned during the New Zealand Diploma in Hospitality Management (Level 5), or from experience in supervisory roles in the hospitality industry. It achieves this through hands-on experience, incorporating industry visits, guest speaker sessions and practical learning, it will prepare you to manage and operate hospitality businesses in New Zealand and internationally. Modern teaching and learning techniques are also integrated throughout the programme. During your studies you'll learn how to plan and develop hospitality business strategies in a dynamic and challenging business environment. This includes learning hospitality marketing, leadership skills, human resource aspects, hotel and resort operations, management accounting for decision-making, and cultural competency essential for running a hospitality business in contemporary Aotearoa-New Zealand. Practical work placements will provide context for your learning, allowing you to reflect on what you learn in the classroom. To meet health and safety requirements, you must be physically able to undertake the practical components of the programme in an industry-emulated environment.
