Massey's Postgraduate Certificate in International Development will broaden your knowledge of the world’s key development issues to shape a positive future for those in need. With the Postgraduate Certificate in International Development, you will be able to apply your knowledge and skills to developing policy and strategies. You’ll also be able to manage and evaluate international development programmes and evaluate contemporary international development theories, policies and approaches. You’ll be able to draw out relevant implications from research.Massey University, in 1989, was the first in New Zealand to offer courses leading to recognised qualifications in development studies. In 2019 we celebrated our 30th anniversary. Our postgraduate students come from a wide range of academic, cultural and professional backgrounds, and our qualification is enriched by this diversity.

All students must meet university entrance requirements to be admitted to the University.Specific requirementsTo enter the Postgraduate Certificate in International Development you will have been awarded or qualified fora Bachelor of Arts with a major in Development Studies or equivalent (e.g. BA with a major in International Relations Social Anthropology or Sociology) orany bachelor's degree along with relevant field or industry experience of an appropriate kind and duration.Also provideyour curriculum vitae outlining your experience.verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.Field experience that can be included towards your admission could bevoluntary work e.g. refugee resettlement with Red Crosssupporting a disadvantaged community group in NZother relevant work or experience (e.g. A social worker nurse or teacher in NZ or overseas)specific development experience (e.g. an engineer who worked in Nepal).International English Language Requirements IELTS - 6.5 overall and minimum 6.0 in each bandTOEFL iBT Overall score 90 minimum 20 in WritingCambridge English - C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with a score of 176. No less than 169 in each skill.NCEL - Level 5PTE - 58 overall and minimum 50 in each communicative skillsLanguageCert - C1 Expert IESOL (LRWS) with HIGH PASS and no less than Pass in each skill or C2 Mastery IESOL (LRWS) with PASS and no less than Pass in each skill
