Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in Chinese

This Postgraduate Diploma is ideal for graduates wishing to undertake advanced study in a humanities or social science specialisation. A graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts will have an advanced level of knowledge in one discipline or area of specialisation cultivated over a full year of study or equivalent. During this time they will have developed such skills as: the ability to analyse and evaluate academic literature in that area the ability to synthesise information and communicate their findings in both oral and written form self-directed learning and intellectual independence. The Chinese programme teaches and supervises research on a wide range of topics – literary or cinematic, traditional or modern – focusing on China and the Chinese-speaking world. Our students are trained in critical thinking and academic writing, equipping them for diverse careers in the world or within universities. The Chinese programme is part of the Department of Global, Cultural and Language Studies and is affiliated with Cultural Studies and Cinema Studies programmes at UC. Study Involve: In addition to mainland-focused Chinese Studies, staff of the UC Chinese programme can supervise PhD thesis work on Sinophone Studies, which focuses on Chinese minorities and overseas Chinese-speaking communities, such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, and Chinese America.
