This course explores the contemporary understanding of disease pathophysiology, current and emerging diagnostic procedures and aspects of therapy.

Accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science, this course will provide you with an enhanced portfolio of knowledge and skills relevant to biomedical science in clinical and research environments[ME1] . Benefit from the opportunity to tailor the course content specifically to your career interests by choosing optional modules in areas such as Cancer Biology, Nutrition, Environment and Public Health, Leadership and Quality Management, and Advanced Biotechnology.

During this course you will enhance your transferable skills and employability with teaching from a team of experienced research-active academic staff and practising biomedical scientists.

This course is an ideal post-graduate progression route for graduates of a BSc. in Biomedical Science or other relevant bioscience disciplines and will enhance your career prospects. Many of our recent graduates have progressed on to postgraduate research courses, leading to PhD or professional doctorates in Biomedical Science, while others who are HCPC registered biomedical scientists have increased their opportunities for progression within their speciality (subject to relevant training).

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students should have a Bachelor’s degree with GPA 2.8 for courses requiring a 2:2 classification, and GPA 3.2 for courses requiring a 2:1 classification. Some courses have additional entry criteria such as a portfolio, work experience or require you to have a degree in a related field. IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component or equivalent.

For international students

Minimum 2:2 Hons or equivalent in relevant subject; In addition to this, part-time students will also need relevant professional experience (this would be normal practice as a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered biomedical scientist working in the NHS); Experienced practitioners are encouraged to apply f English is not your first language, an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent with no elements below 6.0, is essential when you start the course.
