**Overview**At UEA, we believe everyone should have the chance to study at degree level. You might not yet have the required grades. You may need a little extra support. You may need time to decide where your interests lie. If so, then our BA American Studies with a Foundation Year is the perfect choice. Our Humanities Foundation Year is an intensive and exciting year of study. You’ll focus on the topics which interest you and create a toolkit of essential academic skills. We’ll support you to work towards your own learning goals in an encouraging, rewarding environment. You'll study with dedicated lecturers from UEA’s Interdisciplinary Institute for the Humanities. In addition to American Studies, you’ll explore a wide range of adjacent academic subjects, including English Literature, Drama, History, Philosophy, Film, Media, History of Art and Politics. We’ll help you make connections between different disciplines to spark your curiosity. On your Foundation Year American Studies course, you’ll have access to all the opportunities and resources that UEA has to offer, including the Arthur Miller Institute. As you develop your own academic interests and passions, you’ll then be well-placed to progress onto the degree that’s the best fit for you. After successfully completing your foundation year, you’ll move straight onto the BA American Studies degree. Alternatively, you can request to transfer to one of a selection of other undergraduate courses within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, subject to taking the required prerequisite modules.
