Our Foundation Year course can open up a range of potential creative possibilities. If you have the ambition and the ability to study with the School of Digital Arts, but don’t yet have the required qualifications to study the honours degree of your choice, this programme can bridge the gap.

Whatever your creative ambitions, the course is flexible enough to offer a vital launching pad. So, whether you’re looking to a future in developing games, designing websites, making films, producing special effects or working with music (to list just a few), this course can help you take the first steps towards making your mark in the creative and digital industries.

After successful completion of this Foundation Year, you can progress on to one of the relevant BA (Hons) or BSc (Hons) degrees: BA (Hons) Animation; BA (Hons) Filmmaking; BA (Hons) Future Media Production; BA (Hons) Games Art; BSc (Hons) Games Design; BA (Hons) Music and Sound Design; BA (Hons) Photography; BSc (Hons) Web and User Experience Design.


Successful completion of the Foundation Year guarantees automatic progression into Year 1 of your chosen linked degree.

Depending on the linked degree chosen there will be different potential career opportunities following graduation, these are outlined in more detail on individual course entries.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

We do not accept General Studies. Applicants must have a biological science subject - Biology, Human Biology, Sport Science or PE. Applicants must pass Science Practical Assessment as part of the A-level. Please note that we do not accept Applied Science as a single A-level.
