What will I learn?

Develop your understanding of the key concepts in applied linguistics and build academic and professional skills perfect for a range of language-related careers, including TESOL.Our MA in Applied Linguistics is designed to engage students in a wide range of topics and perspectives relevant to the field of linguistics. We explore areas relevant to professional translation, the IT industry, education and language policy, language teaching, and publishing, all of which build your professional skills alongside theoretical understanding.This course gives you the chance to gain advanced knowledge of different approaches to contemporary linguistic issues and a greater understanding of the mechanisms underlying all human language. With the dissertation, you will carry out a sustained piece of independent research on a relevant topic of your choice. By choosing a TESOL-related research topic, you would be eligible to be awarded the MA Applied Linguistics (TESOL).
