The MSci in Biological Sciences is a four-year undergraduate integrated master’s degree, the aim of which is to prepare you for a PhD or a career in an academic or industrial research environment, where you will endeavour to make advances in human and veterinary medicine. This programme allows you to discover and explore all aspects of biological sciences. Modules are structured across the first three years of the course to build a broad base of knowledge, whilst also allowing the opportunity to specialise through optional module selections and research projects in your second and third year. The fourth year involves an extensive and in-depth research project, together with training in advanced research methods. This will build on your knowledge gained from your first three years and develop your scientific and transferable skills further, making you ‘work ready’ and able to realise your full potential as soon as you embark on your chosen career path after graduating from the course. The course will give you a clear and detailed understanding of underpinning physiology and cellular and molecular biology, as well as an insight into disease mechanisms and an appreciation of comparative and integrated approaches to aid diagnosis and treatment in the future. This programme has received Advanced Accreditation from the Royal Society of Biology following an independent and rigorous assessment. Accredited degree programmes contain a solid academic foundation in biological knowledge and key skills, and prepare graduates to address the needs of employers.
