What will I learn?

Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we live, work and interact with technology. The BSc in Artificial Intelligence develops the core computational knowledge, mathematical foundations and practical skills needed to design the intelligent systems shaping the future, in a supportive environment to ensure you fulfil your potential.

You will explore a wide range of AI technologies and applications including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision and data science, along with the option to explore central topics in Computer Science such as cybersecurity and high-performance computing or an application to digital humanities, music or interactive media. Our close links with industry and research partners help ensure that the curriculum reflects the rapidly evolving priorities of the AI sector, allowing new developments and emerging technologies to be introduced throughout the course.

The programme emphasises programming, mathematical and computational thinking in the first year. We will work with you to build a strong foundation in computer science and gain insight into the algorithms and methods that underpin modern AI systems and applications.

As well as equipping you with academic knowledge, the curriculum develops the skills sought by employers across the technology sector. In Year 2, the Software Engineering module includes a team-based project in collaboration with an external organisation, providing valuable experience of designing and developing real-world software and AI solutions with societal impact.
