What will I learn?

Our diverse Biomedical Science degree focuses on many areas of medical and biosciences. It is taught by experienced academics in areas including cell biology, cancer biology, microbiology and haematology. Your studies will include practical-based modules, real-life clinical case studies and a research project. After completion of Level 5, you can apply for placement and upon successful completion of an NHS placement and the IBMS portfolio, you would be eligible to register with the HCPC, enabling you to practice as a qualified Biomedical Scientist (protected title) in the UK.



Gain insight on the frontline from NHS guest lecturers and work experience opportunities at a range of companies and organisations. Our student placements range from large multinational firms, government agencies and the NHS to smaller companies engaged in research, analytical services and manufacturing.



This course prepares you for roles in the public and private healthcare sectors. This might include the NHS, the National Blood Service, the Health Protection Agency, Medical Research Council and Health and Safety Executive, forensic laboratories and the pharmaceutical industry. Previous students have gone on to work for Eon, Dyson, ADEY, PS Analytical and E-liquids, GSK, and NHS hospitals.

Entry requirements

For international students

112 UCAS Tariff points which must include one of the following:

A level: Biology at grade C.

BTEC National: Extended Diploma in Applied Science.

A level and BTEC National: Extended Certificate in Applied Science and A Level Biology at grade C.

International Baccalaureate: 26 points overall including Higher Level Biology at grade 5.

Access to Higher Education Diploma: Science.

T Level: Science (Laboratory Sciences) at grade Merit.
