What will I learn?

Study the mind, brain and behaviour through core theoretical and practical learning to understand people and how human functions operate daily. Our Royal Society of Biology accredited programme* investigates neuroanatomy and neurophysiology in depth, whilst exploring the psychology of human social interaction, cognition and development. You will graduate with the knowledge and skills to pursue a successful career in neuroscience, psychology or biological sciences. Neuroscience with Psychology BSc at Keele investigates two fascinating disciplines to study the mind, brain and behaviour. Our Royal Society of Biology accredited programme* is designed to provide you with a foundation of knowledge across leading areas including neuroanatomy, neurophysiology and cognitive neuroscience. You will be introduced to the study of cells and molecular biology and human physiology to examine the brain, from how it senses and moves through the environment, to the mechanisms underlying learning and memory. You will become equipped with a grounding in the key concepts of neuroscience with transferable skills that will help to prepare you for a career of your choice. Learn to understand people through theories and topics including biological, social and developmental psychology, enabling you to understand human behaviour. You will explore how electrical and chemical activity in the brain works to control these human functions at a cellular and molecular level. Discover how drugs can affect these finely tuned systems and go on to explore how we may be able to regenerate and repair the brain after damage. Throughout the programme, you will develop a range of practical laboratory skills that can be applied to design and carry out experiments to understand more about the brain and nervous system. These involve research design, practical techniques and data analysis to put your learning into practice. Engage with our state-of-the-art David Attenborough and Central Science Laboratories where you can gain hands-on experience and learn how to use industry standard equipment. Your theoretical knowledge and practical skills combined will allow you apply your learning to a wide range of careers. At Keele, you can embark on an exciting journey to enhance your career prospects through studying abroad and building your cultural awareness, or completing a work placement year for industry experience. You can tailor your degree programme to excel in areas of your choice and develop your personal and professional skills in preparation for employment.
