What will I learn?

**Where fire, material, and curiosity shape who you become as a maker.**BA (Hons) Ceramics & Glass with Professional Practice Year is a four-year degree programme, in year three you undertake a placement within the creative industries to further develop your skills and CV.Every maker remembers the first time they worked hot glass or threw clay on a wheel. These are materials that respond to your touch and your vision, so you need to study them in a way that puts you at the heart of it. At UCA, you’ll get the time, space, facilities, and freedom to find out exactly what your style is and where your strengths lie. You'll study in the UK's only UNESCO World Craft Town, with access to one of only a handful of university glass hot shops in the country, alongside dedicated ceramics studios equipped for everything from traditional throwing to 3D clay printing. Your tutors are practising makers and craftspeople – who teach and train you in the workshop, not the lecture theatre.Whether you lean into ceramics, glass, or discover something powerful in combining both, you'll graduate with deep material knowledge, a distinctive creative voice, and the professional skills to build a lasting career in contemporary craft.
