Foundation Year at Birmingham Newman University: The Foundation Year is the first year of a four-year undergraduate degree at Birmingham Newman University. You’ll apply through UCAS for your chosen degree with Foundation Year. Once you’ve successfully completed the Foundation Year and met the progression criteria, you’ll move into Year 1 of your undergraduate course. This course enables students to develop competence in key themes such as programming, machine learning, statistical inference, data analytics and decision support systems within application domains of biomedicine and healthcare informatics, sufficient for them to progress to postgraduate study or employability. A rigorous, coherent and engaging curriculum, supported with state-of-the-art computing infrastructure, that draws on the teaching strengths and research expertise in the subject area, aims to provide students unfettered learning opportunities tailored to address emerging technologies and specialisms.
