Conflict, Security and Development MA

This course analyses the complex relationships between development and security across the globe. It brings together interdisciplinary perspectives on peace, conflict, vulnerability and (in)security. Through a grounding in the key concepts of conflict, security and development, you’ll explore: a wide range of (in)security issues and development challenges, from war to armed intervention and global health and poverty to environmental degradation a plural perspective on actors in international politics – from diplomats and political leaders, to non-governmental organisations, criminal networks and civil society a diverse range of methodologies for addressing complex international issues. You’ll learn theories and critical perspectives that will help you understand crises in innovative manners and address them across the power relations between the Global North and the Global South and their colonial histories.
