The MSc Cyber Security is a specialist 3-semester programme that prepares students for industrial careers by developing advanced skills in cyber security. The course covers leading-edge knowledge in ethical hacking, penetration testing, digital forensics, networks, and security protocols.
The course content is informed by internationally leading research conducted within the School, alongside strong industry partnerships.
Cyber security is an exciting and rapidly growing field across both industry and academia. The skills developed through this course are in high demand across key sectors such as critical infrastructure protection, cloud security, network and application security, cyber threat intelligence, industrial IoT, smart cities, and governance, risk and compliance (GRC). The course also provides a strong foundation for students wishing to pursue further research studies.
The School of Computing has held the Athena Swan Bronze Award since 2016 and particularly welcomes female applicants, who are currently underrepresented in postgraduate taught courses within the School.

a second class honours degree or better, in the subject areas of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or closely related discipline, from a university of the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland, or from a recognised national awarding body, or from an institution of another country which has been recognised as being of an equivalent standard; or
an equivalent standard (normally 50%) in a Graduate Diploma, Graduate Certificate, Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma or an approved alternative qualification excluding Conversion courses; and the qualification must be in the subject areas of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or closely related discipline.
