What will I learn?

Develop the analytical and practical skills required to address some of today’s most pressing global challenges including inequality, sustainability and security. Based at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), you’ll learn how to approach development problems with creativity, confidence and the ability to work collaboratively. IDS is an independent research and teaching institute located on the campus of the University of Sussex, with a close affiliation with the University. All teaching staff are active researchers in development, resulting in a unique learning experience grounded in real-world challenges and solutions. You’ll have a wide range of modules to choose from, giving you the flexibility to choose what interests you most and grow intellectually within the overall degree framework. You’ll develop an understanding of the main debates in development, engage in informed and critical ways with professionals from diverse backgrounds, and join an active community of people from around the world working on social justice.
