The BSc (Hons) Finance with Actuarial Science degree is delivered by Cass Business School, City, University of London. On this course you will have the opportunity to explore all aspects of the financial world, with a particular emphasis on risk management.This course will equip you with financial risk management and analysis skills that will boost your career prospects in investment management, risk management or actuarial science. Hence, with this degree, financial engineering or financial analysis careers will also be open to you.Throughout your studies, you will discover the different aspects of the financial world and gain an understanding through a mixture of financial, mathematical, statistical and actuarial modules. You will also apply your new technical and analytical skills to solve a wide range of business problems.Graduates from BSc (Hons) Finance with Actuarial Science will be well suited for a wide variety of careers in the financial services sector, including in investment management, insurance or risk management. Your skills will be welcomed in investment banking, accountancy, commercial banking, financial engineering or financial analysis. Moreover, you will also be well prepared for a career in management consultancy.A key part of this degree is the opportunity to gain professional work experience or a period of study abroad. As a BSc (Hons) Finance with Actuarial Science student, you are eligible to undertake a one-year paid work placement during the third year of a four-year sandwich degree programme. The BSc (Hons) Finance with Actuarial Science degree is new for 2019/2020, but as a guide, past placements students from the BSc (Hons) Actuarial Science course have mainly found actuarial placements, and some finance placements, in organisations including banks, insurers, re-insurers and risk management specialists.Students can also apply to spend a year of their degree studying abroad at one of our prestigious partner universities, between the second and final year of study, of a four-year sandwich degree. Studying abroad enables students to expand their international network of contacts, to develop a wider perspective in the world of global finance and to enhance their career prospects.Please note this course is subject to University approval processes (expected April 2019) and will be open for applications when approval has been granted.
