What will I learn?

BA (Hons) Fine Art with integrated Foundation Year is a four-year degree programme, including an integrated foundation year to help develop your skills and creativity before you start the first year of the degree course.Fine Art grounded in materials and making. Because if you can't make it, it's just an idea. Fine Art at Farnham starts with your hands. From your first day, you’ll be in the studios and workshops – painting, drawing, casting, welding, shaping plaster, and building assemblage – developing the essential skills that ground contemporary artistic practice. As you progress, you decide whether to deepen what you’ve started or push into completely new territory, returning to that choice as your work evolves. This is a course that treats making and thinking as inseparable. Ideas emerge through active engagement with materials, and critical enquiry grows from the physical act of working with them. By your final year, you’ll be applying for open calls, presenting work publicly, drafting funding proposals and refining your professional approach. You’ll leave as an artist who is materially confident, conceptually alert and equipped to sustain a meaningful creative life.
