What will I learn?

The Five-Year MD Track (MD Track 5) at St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine in the Caribbean is suitable for students who have completed their high school education and performed well in science subjects.

The first year focuses on preclinical studies, followed by a year of basic sciences, which can be completed in the UK or Grenada. Students then continue with basic sciences at SGU’s Grenada campus. Up to two years of clinical rotations can be done in the US or UK-depending on visa policies-with additional elective options in Canada. The MD is awarded upon completion of the program.

  • Students build on an existing academic background in science with entry-level medical degree coursework in anatomy, physiology, and other foundational sciences.
  • The initial coursework prepares our MD Track 5 students for success in the basic sciences and clinical phases of SGU’s MD program.

Dual BSc/MD Degree Option

By entering SGU’s MD Track 5, you may be eligible to earn a Bachelor of Science (BSc) on your way to completing your Doctor of Medicine.

The BSc/MD option allows you to complete your undergraduate degree through one year of undergraduate and preclinical courses.
