Computer Science is one of the most exciting and valuable subjects you can study. It shapes the systems and technologies we use every day and opens doors to fast‑growing career areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software development, data science and robotics.

As a direct route into the second year of an undergraduate degree, the International Year One in Computer Science* gives you the same academic content as Durham’s first‑year Computer Science degree, with the added benefit of more teaching time and smaller classes. This means you begin Year 2 with stronger knowledge, skills and confidence. Students also follow one of two Academic skills routes based on their English level on entry. This ensures that they receive the right level of challenge and support, enabling them to develop the academic skills needed for degree study in a more supportive learning environment.
