As the first UK university to award a RIBA-validated degree in Architecture, the University of Liverpool has a long and proud tradition of excellence in architectural education. Our Master of Architecture (Integrated) continues in this vein by being one of the first in the country to offer a condensed route to completing RIBA Parts 1 and 2.The first three years of the programme run in parallel with BA Architecture, enabling you to transfer from one to the other in line with your career ambitions. You will take modules across the three strands – design studio, contextual studies and technical studies – with a clear progression route into your fourth and final year (the MArch).Design studio modules will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to design architectural projects in both natural and built environments. You will consider theoretical, conceptual and artistic ideas that are based on social, cultural and economic factors, including appropriate environmental and technical building solutions. Alongside this, the technical studies modules will provide you with knowledge of structure and construction, as well as the construction industry itself – including health and life safety, legal frameworks, sustainability, and issues of equality, diversity and inclusion.Contextual studies modules will introduce you to history and theory of architecture, urban design studies, conceptual thinking, professional practice, management and research skills, positioning the discipline in both its historic and contemporary contexts.Upon completion of this four-year, integrated programme, you will attain RIBA Part 1 and Part 2 in preparation for professional practical experience in architecture.
