The Medical Biosciences (Psychology) BSc gives you the chance to explore the powerful connection between the body and the mind. You’ll study human biology, disease and laboratory science while also learning how behaviour, cognition and mental processes shape health. It’s an interdisciplinary degree designed for a world where physical and mental health are increasingly understood together.You’ll follow Brunel’s established Medical Biosciences framework and study alongside students from related pathways. That means shared teaching, modern labs and a collaborative learning environment where you can learn from different perspectives and build confidence in your scientific and analytical skills.As you move through the course, you’ll explore everything from the molecular basis of disease to the psychological factors that influence wellbeing. You’ll learn how biological, psychological and social factors interact in a biopsychosocial model of health, and how this knowledge can help solve real‑world challenges.If you’re interested in neuroscience, mental health, diagnostics, public health or emerging health technologies, this degree gives you the flexibility to shape your own direction. It also prepares you for postgraduate routes such as Clinical Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Science, or Physician Associate Studies.You can also choose to take an optional placement year between your second and final year. It’s a chance to apply your learning in a real‑world setting - such as an NHS laboratory, a research institute, a mental health service or a biotech company - and gain hands‑on experience that strengthens your CV and helps you explore future career paths.
