What will I learn?

This course is for graduates with a BSc in life or other sciences, and for intercalating and qualified MBBS or BDS students, who have an interest in leveraging our understanding of genetics to improve human health.The use of genetic information, to inform healthcare and improve diagnosis and treatment, is becoming increasingly important in all medical disciplines. This course aims to cover the expanding interface between genetics and health, building from fundamentals of information processing in the cell, to the application of cutting edge genome wide technologies and associated therapies.Our teaching is informed both by research and clinical practice, and benefits from close links with NHS molecular diagnostic services, providing a broad understanding of this rapidly advancing subject area.

Entry requirements

For international students

A minimum of a 2:1 honours degree, or international equivalent, in:

a life science or related discipline

or an MBBS/BDS degree

This programme accepts both medical and dental students wishing to take a master's degree as an intercalation. You will need to have successfully completed your third or fourth year of study.

Practical laboratory work experience is desirable, although not essential. The modules you can study may depend on your academic background.
