What will I learn?

We're delighted to launch our new MEng (Hons) Engineering (International) degree programme for 2026 entry. Our unique four-year programme continues to blend rigorous academic learning with project work on next-generation Dyson technology, but has evolved to include a life-changing 12-month international experience.


Studying for an MEng at the Dyson Institute gives you the unique opportunity to study for your degree at the centre of a global leader in design innovation. You’ll learn engineering fundamentals from leading academics and put them into practice developing future Dyson products.



Learning Outcomes:


The programme is a combination of Master’s level learning and application in a global technology company. On successful completion of the programme, graduates will be able to:


  • Design, develop, and deliver innovative engineering processes, systems, services and/or products by integrating appropriate theoretical and practical methods, with an emphasis on systems thinking and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Design and conduct experiments, including computational modelling and simulation, to acquire and interpret data for solving complex, real-world international engineering problems and validating innovative solutions.
  • Critically analyse and map interactions between components, systems, and stakeholders within engineering products or processes to evaluate performance, user impact, and opportunities for optimisation.
  • Provide technical and project leadership through planning, managing, and delivering projects, including effective team collaboration, risk and vendor management, and financial awareness in a global engineering context.
  • Communicate complex engineering concepts and proposals effectively, adapting storytelling methods, and data visualisation for diverse stakeholders and audiences across technical and non-technical backgrounds.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants are required to hold a minimum of GCSE grade C/4, or an equivalent qualification, in English and must be predicted to achieve or have already achieved one of the accepted Level 3 qualifications. Accepted qualifications include A Levels with grades AAB, including grade A in Mathematics, grade A in a STEM subject and grade B in another subject; applicants studying Physics at A Level must achieve at least grade B. Access to HE Diplomas in Engineering, Engineering Science, Mathematics and Engineering, Science, or Science and Engineering are accepted, provided applicants achieve at least 30 credits at Distinction and 15 at Merit or above, including a minimum of 12 Distinction credits in Mathematics and 12 Distinction credits in another STEM subject, with Mathematics units covering calculus, algebra and trigonometry, alongside grade A in A-level Mathematics. AQA Technical Levels in Engineering, BTEC Engineering qualifications, Cambridge Pre-U, Cambridge Technicals, City & Guilds Engineering qualifications and EAL Engineering qualifications are accepted subject to the specific grade requirements outlined, with most pathways requiring grade A in A-level Mathematics and, in some cases, an additional STEM A Level at grade A. Applicants presenting HNC/HND qualifications are considered on a case-by-case basis and must normally hold a Distinction in an engineering field together with grade A in A-level Mathematics. The International Baccalaureate is accepted with 34 points overall, including 17 points at Higher Level with grades 6 and 6 in Mathematics and a STEM subject. Other accepted qualifications include the Irish Leaving Certificate (Higher Level) with H1 in Mathematics, H1 in a STEM subject and four H2 grades; Scottish Highers with Advanced Higher grades AA in Mathematics and a STEM subject and Standard Higher grades AABBB; T Levels in Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing or Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing and Control at Distinction alongside grade A in A-level Mathematics; and the Welsh Baccalaureate at grade B alongside A Level Mathematics and a STEM subject, both at grade A.
