This creates a vibrant and dynamic environment for postgraduate study. Our microbiology researchers are actively engaged in the following research areas:Microbial Biochemistry and MetabolismStudies investigating the metabolism and biochemistry of microbes from various environments. This includes the discovery of novel enzymes and biosynthetic pathways for natural products.Antimicrobial Resistance and the Development of new Anti-Infective DrugsThe use of genomic, computational, and molecular biological methods to probe the emergence and evolution of antimicrobial resistance. We're working to direct the development of new drug leads.Plant-Microbe InteractionsStudies focusing on the molecular basis of interactions between plants and microbes. We aim to understand and manipulate relationships for improved plant health and productivity.Invertebrate-Microbe InteractionsInvestigations into how invertebrates interact with microbial communities.
