What will I learn?

Explore theatre across time, from early modern drama to today’s experimental theatre. Develop your research project using critical theory and practice. Our faculty are theatre-makers, performance artists, theatre historians and performance theorists. They are experts in diverse interdisciplinary approaches to the study of drama, theatre and performance. Areas of study We welcome applicants with practice-as-research projects as well as historical, critical and theoretical approaches to the following areas of study: contemporary performance practice and experimental theatre non-human performance theatre and ethics Live Art, visual art and body-based practices queer and feminist performance dance and the choreographic performance and popular cultures contemporary theatre directing interdisciplinary intersections (for example between performance and music) early modern drama in contemporary performance pedagogies of actor training. Entry requirements

For international students

Youre normally expected to have a Merit (an average of 60percentage overall) in a Masters degree. Subject-specific requirements – Your Masters-level qualification should be in a drama-related subject or a subject relevant to your chosen area of research. You should also show evidence of substantial research and/or evidence of professional performance-related experience. Your undergraduate degree-level qualification should be in drama, performance or theatre studies. You may also be considered for the degree if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.
