What will I learn?

This course offers the opportunity to take a 12-week work-based learning placement, giving you the chance to apply your studies in a professional setting, develop practical skills and gain valuable experience for your future career. This course aims to build upon the foundational knowledge acquired at UG level, providing you with advanced expertise and specialised training in the field of cybersecurity. You’ll graduate with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate complex challenges, drive innovation, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.


  • You will be introduced to theoretical aspects of computer science such as formal languages, computability, and complexity theory, empowering them to analyse and solve complex computational problems
  • The course will enhance your competency in programming languages and secure software development methodologies, enabling you to effectively develop and secure software systems
  • Through a combination of advanced coursework, research projects, and practical exercises, the course aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills to effectively analyse and mitigate risks, develop robust security frameworks, lead incident response and forensic investigations, and make informed decisions to protect sensitive information and critical infrastructure

Entry requirements

For international students

The standard entry requirements for these programmes are an honours degree of at least 2:2 classification in a Cyber Security related subject area, or equivalent in any science-based degree with a strong computing and/or engineering element. In some cases, applicants with substantial commercial or industrial experience can be accepted, subject to interview and references.

Equivalent to a UK bachelors degree at 2.2.
