What will I learn?

You’ll gain an understanding of the science and composition of food and how nutrition and diet therapy can be used to prevent and treat chronic and acute diseases that can affect people throughout their lifespan.Plus, eligible students following this course will also receive a payment of at least £5000 a year. This doesn't need to be paid back and is in addition to any financial support received through your student loan.Dietitians are experts in nutrition who can assess, diagnose and treat dietary and nutrition-related problems.Practice-based learning is an essential part of our course and you’ll spend 27 weeks, over the two-year programme, working hands-on with service users to develop up-to-date skills and professional behaviours in a range of different settings within the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership. Our diverse range of practice placements offer experience across the four pillars of dietetic practice. These include everything from NHS Trusts across the region, dietitians who have established their own dietetic practices, research, industry and leadership roles, charities as well as digital and remote dietetic practice. Many of our local NHS trusts even offer further financial and training incentives to train dietitians. Further extra-curricular opportunities are available within the city’s sporting sector courtesy of our well-established links with professional clubs such as Hull FC, Hull Kingston Rovers and Hull City.Plus, you’ll complete this programme with your own research project, giving you the opportunity to apply to be published in a scientific journal and broaden the nutrition evidence base further. This lays the foundation for your future career.Watch our road to registration webinar here.Unique to this course, taught elements are timetabled Tuesday – Thursdays only, creating an inclusive environment for our students who may have additional responsibilities such as childcare or part-time employment, or choose to commute to campus.
