What will I learn?

The MSc People Analytics at Queen’s Business School bridges the gap between traditional human resource management and business analytics. It is designed for those who want to understand how workforce data can be analysed and how analytical evidence can be translated into better, fairer and more effective organisational decisions.

Students develop an unusually broad combination of capabilities spanning people strategy, human resource analytics, statistics, artificial intelligence, employee performance and wellbeing, organisational change, and cyber security and digital risk management. This integrated approach reflects the reality of contemporary People Analytics: technical analysis informed by an understanding of organisations, communicated effectively to decision-makers and undertaken responsibly when dealing with sensitive employee data.

Practical coursework gives students experience of analysing and visualising data, evaluating workforce problems and developing evidence-based recommendations. A substantial independent research report allows each student to investigate a People Analytics question in depth. Open to those from any discipline, the programme provides an accessible route into a rapidly developing field and prepares graduates for careers in People Analytics, HR analytics, workforce planning, HR information systems, organisational consultancy and evidence-based people management.

The programme combines established expertise in people management, statistics, business analytics, digital risk and organisational change, alongside an independent research report pathway, convened through the Responsible People Management module. The programme is intended for those who want to understand people management problems, analyse relevant data and translate findings into responsible decisions. The MSc People Analytics will sit at an interdisciplinary boundary: analytical capability for better informed decision-making with an understanding of people management.
