What will I learn?

The MSc by Research in Defence and Security provides you with the opportunity to develop knowledge, understanding and expertise in your chosen field of research, in much greater depth than a taught master’s degree, but without the requirement to make a ‘contribution to knowledge’. You develop broad skills in areas relevant to your field of research. This course is designed for graduates with good first degrees who wish to explore an area of their work or other interests in more detail. You will have the opportunity to utilise the specialist facilities within Cranfield Forensic Institute (CFI) and Cranfield University as a whole to carry out a significant research project of your own under the supervision of one or more Cranfield specialists. Particular interests of the supervisors within the centre include, but are not limited to: Materials Characterisation, Counterterrorism, Intelligence, Risk and Resilience, International Security and Law, Digital Forensics, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN), Advanced Materials for Protective Engineering: Blast and Ballistics, Advanced Imaging.
