What will I learn?

This course will train you to be a confident, independent researcher, capable of creative problem-solving in a wide range of contexts. You’ll develop your ability to analyse, organise, communicate, collaborate and think. You’ll study a research-based curriculum that is innovative and diverse, covering analytic and continental traditions. You’ll gain the skills essential to a fulfilling future career by working with professional philosophers and by engaging with industry partners. You’ll also be joining our friendly, supportive, and committed research community. We are using philosophy for the greater benefit of society by working with a wide variety of organisations. These have included: the UK Parliament the Royal College of Midwives the British Horseracing Association Philosophy in Prisons the International Science Council.

Entry requirements

For international students

Degree requirements: You should normally have an upper second-class (2.1) undergraduate honours degree or above. Subject-specific requirements: Your qualification should be in philosophy or a related subject. You may also be considered for the course if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.
