What will I learn?

The Aston BSc (Hons) Psychology and Business course combines two complementary disciplines to give you a powerful understanding of human behaviour and its application in real-world business contexts. Psychology explores why people think, feel and behave the way they do, examining the complex interplay between biological, psychological, environmental, social and cultural influences. This insight is highly valuable in business, where understanding behaviour underpins effective leadership, decision-making, marketing and communication.By studying business alongside psychology, you will learn how to apply psychological theories in practical settings, from managing and motivating teams to understanding consumer behaviour. Equally, your business studies will help you interpret psychological knowledge within real organisational and commercial environments, giving you a well-rounded and highly relevant skill set.The programme is dual accredited and offers eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS) with a minimum 2:2 degree classification. This is the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist for those who wish to pursue a professional career in psychology. You will be taught by leading experts from Aston’s Department of Psychology and Aston Business School. Aston Business School is part of an elite group of institutions worldwide to hold ‘triple-crown’ accreditation from AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS, reflecting the highest standards in teaching and research.Throughout the course, you will explore a wide range of topics, including how the brain influences behaviour, how we think and learn, how people behave in groups, how language shapes thought, and how psychological wellbeing can be supported. You will also examine how our thinking develops across the lifespan and how unconscious processes can influence our decisions and actions. As part of your degree, you will have the opportunity to undertake a career-enhancing placement year in the UK or internationally, gaining valuable professional experience and boosting your employability.By the time you graduate, you will have developed strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, alongside a deep understanding of human behaviour in both individual and organisational contexts-preparing you for a wide range of careers in business, psychology and beyond.
