What will I learn?

**Why an Integrated Foundation Stage?**An Integrated Foundation Stage starts your degree studies with a year spent learning the skills required to progress onto a full honours degree. Alongside an introduction to Sport, Coaching and Physical Education, you will develop valuable study skills, communication, team work and problem-solving techniques which help to build your confidence and prepare you for the rest of your course.**Why Sport, Coaching and Physical Education?**Our Sport, Coaching and Physical Education degree focuses on understanding the development of participants in sports teaching and coaching contexts. Lectures and seminars are taught through interactive and engaging student-centred approaches. Our course scored 96% for academic support and 94% for both teaching satisfaction and learning opportunities in the National Student Survey 2025.You’ll explore a range of contexts and disciplines, alongside 5 themes: inclusion, equity and inequality, identity and self, curriculum and pedagogy, governance and management, and growth development and maturation. The course introduces innovative approaches to coaching/teaching and encourages you to critically reflect on your own delivery and the impact different approaches have on learners. This ensures you’ll graduate with an understanding of contemporary issues in physical education and coaching, including motivations to participate in sport and physical activity, as well as the barriers to participation for different abilities and backgrounds. You’ll have opportunities to put your learning into practice with placements embedded throughout year 2 and 3, making sure you gain a competitive edge with a wealth of experience before graduation.**Why University of Gloucestershire?**University of Gloucestershire (UoG) is a vibrant, close-knit and diverse community where small class sizes and dedicated personal tutors ensure students receive guidance and support from day one.
