What will I learn?

Our MSc Strength and Conditioning course integrates the essential scientific principles of strength and conditioning with the tools required to succeed in a multitude of professional health and fitness settings, from training elite athletes to managing health and wellbeing.The degree provides bespoke, research-informed modules to develop your knowledge and skills. We specialise in exercise for health, wellbeing and physical performance which will lead you to a successful career in the human performance and health sectors, both nationally and internationally.Our accreditation by the most respected organisations in the field ensure our students secure their degree, industry qualification and international professional recognition together. As a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) accredited programme, you will complete the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist qualification and you will also become a practitioner recognised by the International Universities Strength and Conditioning Association (IUSCA).You’ll have access to dedicated sports science laboratories on campus, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities ranging from dedicated sport facilities to specialist physiology, biomechanical and biochemistry labs and equipment.Students become skilled lab clinicians able to use a range of specialist equipment in blood analysis, arthrometric determinants, and biomechanical analysis all of which enable them to diagnose athletes’ performance and training needs.Our academic team delivers a research-led learning experience that reflects and shapes industry standards. Staff are affiliated with leading professional bodies including the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES), the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA), and the NSCA. Our research actively supports professional athletes, giving you the opportunity to apply theory in high-performance environments.The programme culminates in a substantial independent research project, allowing you to apply the knowledge and techniques you have learned to a scientific strength and conditioning question that will further develop your understanding.

Entry requirements

For international students

An undergraduate (honours) degree at 2:2, or above, in Sport Science or a relevant subject. Applicants without a degree that have professional qualifications or relevant professional experience may be considered.
