Overview

This Pre-Sport Administration program is designed as a NKU-transfer pathway.

Ready for a fast-paced, exciting career in athletics? The associate degree program in Pre-Sport Administration provides students with the first two years of study toward their bachelor’s degree in sport administration. Sport administration focuses on the business side of the sport industry.

Sport is an approximately $500-billion industry. Given the economic magnitude and pervasive nature of sport in society, the need has never been greater for educated/trained sport managers. However, competition is fierce for entry-level positions. Those with the best education have the best opportunity to obtain a position and be successful.

UC Clermont's program was developed to meet the standards of the Sport Management Program Review Council. It provides graduates with a strong technical foundation and the sport business skills necessary to successfully enter the field of sport management. Sport administration students will have an opportunity to earn a career-oriented degree with employment opportunities in a growing industry.

Success

The most important factor to success is a love of sports. You also will need critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. It is essential that you have a high level of interpersonal skills for building and maintaining positive relationships with a diverse array of constituents. You also need excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate others as well as the ability to see the “big picture.”

Career

There are approximately 5 million people working in sport-related occupations. Graduates are prepared for a variety of positions in professional sports, college athletics and high school athletic administration. Career opportunities exist within sport associations, sporting events and the management of sport venues. Other opportunities include the field of health and fitness, recreation and within the sporting goods industry.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

This program is open to all students with a high school diploma or GED and the desire to succeed in college. Although admission is open, students accepted into the program must meet the academic standards of the program to advance to upper levels of study. Prerequisites: High school chemistry and biology with a grade of "C" or better; Placement into English Composition I and College Algebra I on the UC Blue Ash College placement test; Students lacking these required prerequisites may take equivalent courses at UC Blue Ash College.

For international students

This program is open to all students with a high school diploma or GED and the desire to succeed in college. Although admission is open, students accepted into the program must meet the academic standards of the program to advance to upper levels of study.

English test score requirements: ELS - 112 Graduation; IELTS - 6.0 Overall minimum of 5.5 on each section; PTE – 46; TOEFL - 66 iBT minimum of 15 on each section; Duolingo – 95; Cambridge - 169 minimum, Recommended exam: C1 Advanced.
