An accountant is a person who keeps or inspects financial records. They're numbers people who excel at organization and detail-oriented work.The Accounting Technology program is a fully online two-year associate degree program that prepares students for a career as a paraprofessional in the field of accounting. The program emphasizes financial accounting, computerized accounting information systems, managerial accounting, payroll accounting, generally accepted accounting principles, preparation of financial statements, preparation of individual income taxes and nonprofit accounting.CareerYou can look forward to employment as an accounting paraprofessional. Other opportunities include the following:bookkeeperaccounts receivable/payable clerk or managerbilling/purchasing clerk or managercredit/collection clerk, analyst or managerinventory clerk or managerpayroll clerk or managertax preparergeneral accounting clerkIf you wish to become a professional accountant, CPA, audit or enter a similar career, you should instead pursue pre-business administration and transition to a bachelor's degree program majoring in accounting.

Entry requirements

This program is open to all students with a high school diploma or GED and the desire to succeed in college. Although admission is open, students accepted into the program must meet the academic standards of the program to advance to upper levels of study.
