Advanced Graduate Certificate in Periodontics

Training is provided at the School of Dental Medicine and at affiliated teaching hospitals, including Stony Brook University Medical Center and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. The program objective is to produce highly educated and clinically competent periodontists proficient in the diagnosis and treatment of the various forms of periodontal diseases. Significant training is given in implantology, oral and periodontal plastic surgery, oral reconstructive surgery, and periodontal medicine. Educational objectives are accomplished through lectures, seminars, case presentation conferences and clinical practice. The receipt of a certificate in periodontics is dependent upon satisfactory completion of all scheduled courses, a portfolio of 20 written completed case reports, and passing in-service, oral comprehensive examinations and simulated American Board of Periodontology examinations.
