Aeronautical engineering focuses on the analysis, design and operation of structures, vehicles and systems (e.g. aircraft, helicopters, drones) which nominally involve safe, sustained and controlled atmospheric flight. It can also involve other vehicles and systems such as wind-turbines, Formula One race cars and submarines which operate in aerodynamics or hydrodynamics environments.
The Aeronautical Engineering program at RPI is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Aerospace and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
