What will I learn?

Prospective students include those who majored in fields such as psychology, sociology, social work, exercise science, recreation therapy, public health, biology or nursing, as well as allied health professionals. UNCW’s Gerontology programs take a bio-psycho-social approach, drawing on empirical research and an examination of current issues. Students participate in service-learning, community engagement, group interaction and distance education opportunities.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants seeking admission to the graduate certificate program must hold a bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university in this country or its equivalent in a foreign institution based on a four-year program and have a strong overall academic record with a “B” average or better in the basic courses related to gerontology.

Minimum Score Requirement – TOEFL: 79; IELTS: minimum of 6.5 for acceptance, 7.0 for TA consideration; Duolingo: minimum of 115.
