What will I learn?

The Visual Art Education program views art education as an iterative process, where educators are constantly improving upon their practice to meet current pedagogies. Our prospective graduates should see themselves as educational creatives who are dedicated to providing their future students with rigorous art instruction that encompasses both traditional art-making and contemporary practices. These practices are fueled by administering engaging experiences that promote equitable learning and honor the individual experiences of the learner. The Master of Education degree is designed to assist teachers who possess certification in visual arts education in developing greater skills in various media, innovative teaching methods and curriculum development. This level of preparation will increase their effectiveness and innovation as teachers, assist in the creation of a diverse and interdisciplinary curriculum, and provide opportunities for advancement at the school and district levels.
