What will I learn?

This degree program is designed for both the new student entering the field of machine maintenance and for the current maintenance employee who wishes to learn more about the knowledge and skills currently in demand by employers. A graduate of the program will be prepared for entry into the installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting field as a Mechatronics Technician. Instruction covers the basic energy types that animate and/or control machinery. These energy types are mechanical energy (solids), hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical. The student will become familiar with machinery components that conduct, control and apply the various energy types. Additional areas of study include, mechanical fabrication, industrial and residential wiring, industrial rigging, motor logic control, electric fluid power, PLC (programable logic controller), automation and robotics (optional industry certification, available for MTX 150 only), and an optional forklift certification. Hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC troubleshooting is also covered.

Entry requirements

For international students

Admission to the college is open to anyone who has completed High School and 9th grade transcript

English Proficiency Requirements:

TOEFL iBT 61 or higher on the international TOEFL or the iBT Special Home Edition while TOEFL testing centers are closed during the COVID-19 pandemic

IELTS 5.5 no band lower than 5.0

Official ACT score of 14 in ELA (English Language Arts) with completed writing section

Official SAT Score of not lower than English Language Arts 410 and Math 430

Cambridge General Certificate of Education (GCE) O level with C in English as First Language, or B in English as Second Language

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) of no lower than 46

STEP/EIKEN score of Grade Pre-1 or better

Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) English as First Language score of C or higher; or English as Second Language score of B

Duolingo score of no lower than 95

English Language Level Test, ELLT overall score of 4 (B2) with no band lower than 3 (B1+).
