What will I learn?

Students who successfully complete the AA-T in Spanish earn specific guarantees for transfer to the CSU system: admission to a CSU with junior status and priority admission to their local CSU campus and to a program or major in Spanish or a similar major. Students transferring to a CSU campus will be required to complete no more than 60 units after transfer to earn a bachelor’s degree.

Students are required to complete 60 semester units that are eligible for transfer to a California State University, including both of the following: (1) The Intersegment General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or the California State University General Education – Breadth Requirements and (2) 19-23 semester units with a grade of C or P or better in the major and an overall minimum grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 in all CSU transferable coursework.

Program Learning Outcomes

Students who complete the program will be able to:

• Use grammar and vocabulary to demonstrate oral competence in the Spanish language.

• Use grammar and vocabulary to demonstrate written competence in the Spanish language.

• Describe the culture(s) of the Spanish-speaking world.

• Interpret Spanish-language texts according to their cultural, literary and/or linguistic content.

Students must have completion of High School/Secondary School Diploma transcripts.

For international students

Students must have completed High School/Secondary School Diploma. Applicant must have TOEFL score of 61 ibt, or 6 on the IELTS test. Deadlines to Apply: Fall - June 15.
