What will I learn?

The world needs trees. Forest nursery employees grow seedlings to replace harvested trees, restore forests after fires, expand forests to help fight climate change and more. In this program, you’ll learn the advanced and sustainable technologies used in North American forest nurseries, as well as essential management and marketing skills. At the Franklin H. Pitkin Forest Nursery, you’ll gain hands-on experience propagating trees, shrubs and native plants and keeping them healthy. Graduates of this program are prepared to begin a career in the forest nursery industry as technicians or managers, or to pursue a bachelor’s degree in forestry or a related field.
