What will I learn?

The Medical Administration Associate in Science (A.S.) degree at Valencia College is a two-year program that prepares you to go directly into a specialized career in medical office support.

The program focuses on career training for office support staff and medical transcriptionists. The program also emphasizes records management, insurance, billing and coding, and other front office activities. Medical transcriptionists provide vital support for physicians as they transcribe dictation from doctors and other health care professionals into medical reports, correspondence and other vital administrative records. Medical office support personnel with these highly sought-after skills can find careers in medical offices, clinics, hospitals and other health-care organizations.

Listen to dictated recordings made by physicians and accurately transcribe medical reports

Applicants must have the equivalent of a high school diploma in the United States.

For international students

U.S. high School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

English Language Requirements:

Official TOEFL result (minimum score 45)

Official IELTS result (minimum score 5.5)

Official LOEP result (minimum score 86 – offered at Valencia College)

Successful completion of English Composition or its equivalent (as determined by Valencia) with a grade of C or higher.
