The Quinlan School of Business' BBA in Sport Management degree program combines comprehensive business skills with an in-depth understanding of the sport industry. Especially beneficial is the program's location at Loyola's Water Tower Campus on the Magnificent Mile in the heart of Chicago, a major sport and athletic market. Students obtain important connections to jobs, internships, and service opportunities to supplement their classroom discussion about how local teams put principles into practice.

The sport management program focuses on the essentials in sport finance, law, and marketing, as well as on the economics of this dynamic industry. Coursework also covers sport facility management. The program emphasizes the importance of developing strong written and oral communication skills. Students study business ethics to enhance future decision making.


The goal of the Bachelor of Business Administration in Sport Management program is to prepare sport business professionals for a career within the sport industry. The Sport Management program shares the vision, mission, values, and goals of Loyola University Chicago and the Quinlan School of Business by offering a broad scope of academic course work that fully integrates business principles and concepts and applying them to the sport industry.


At the completion of the program, graduates are expected to:

  • Develop an awareness of the size and broad scope of the sport industry.
  • Understand the fundamental business concepts (accounting, finance, economics, marketing, management, human resources, operations management, and information technology) to the real business world of sport industry.
  • Understand the historical and sociological perspectives impacting the sport industry.
  • Recognize the variety of career opportunities in the field of sport management and the sport industry.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate (oral, written, and personally) in a professional and credible manner.
  • Gain and understanding of the leadership and ethical aspects of sport management.
  • Understand the current issues facing sport organizations and the management strategies utilized to solve sport business challenges.
  • Identify common legal areas relevant to the operation of sport programs and organizations.
  • Understand how the economy impacts every facet of sport organizations and the sport industry.
  • Apply relevant technologies, such as social, to effectively manage sport organizations.
